"Mensur Aba Hika was the first single producer from whom Osito purchased coffee in Ethiopia, five harvests ago. He plays a key role in the Tokuma Farmer Group, a collective of farmers in Western Ethiopia working together to market their coffees and share knowledge to improve quality. Over the past five years, we’ve seen notable improvements in quality, consistency, and the timely delivery of coffees to port. Mensur’s contribution has been essential to both the success of the Tokuma group and Osito’s work with single producers in the region.

Historically, Jimma was known for low-quality naturally processed coffees. In 2009, Technoserve, an international nonprofit, began helping farmers in the area learn how to wash and produce specialty coffee. Since then, Jimma has become one of Ethiopia’s top-quality producing regions. Recently, with fewer restrictions on marketing and exporting, small and medium producers have been able to market their coffees directly, and Osito has proudly supported these producers over the past five years."
